How to care for your ring so it lasts a lifetime.

A ring worn every day goes through everything: cream, soap, salt, sport, the dishwasher, sunscreen. Most of it causes no lasting harm if you know a few basic rules.

When to take it off: during sport (equipment can bend the setting), when sleeping with a freshly set pavé, during heavy gardening or DIY work, and when handling bleach or aggressive cleaning agents. Chemicals can attack certain surfaces and settings, especially rhodium-plated white gold.

Cleaning at home is simpler than you might think. Lukewarm water, a drop of mild washing-up liquid, a soft toothbrush. Fingerprints and cream residue love to hide under the stone — give that a gentle scrub, then rinse under clean water. Don't soak in hot water; it can affect adhesives in some settings.

What to avoid: ultrasonic cleaners without checking first. They're fine for many stones, but not all — emeralds, turquoise, and some treated gemstones don't tolerate them well. When in doubt, ask.

Once a year, a professional check-up makes sense. We look at whether the claw setting is still holding, whether a pavé stone has come loose, whether the rhodium plating needs refreshing. This usually costs nothing or very little, and it prevents a stone ending up somewhere on the floor because the setting gave way.

Restoration is not a sign of failure. A ring worn every day for five years shows it. Polishing, buffing, re-rhodium-plating — we can bring almost any ring back to something very close to how it looked when it left us. It's worth doing before an anniversary or before the next family member is getting married.

Our door stays open — not just for the purchase, but for everything that comes after. Write to us, call, come by. A ring isn't a one-off purchase; it's a relationship. That's how we treat it.
