What does an engagement ring really cost?

The honest answer first: with us, an engagement ring sits between CHF 1'900 and CHF 25'000. Most couples land between CHF 3'000 and CHF 5'000. This range is wide because a ring isn't a finished product off the shelf, it's the result of decisions you make yourself.

The biggest line item is almost always the stone. Then comes the metal, and finally the work on the setting. Once you understand how these three parts behave, you understand every price anyone quotes you, ours included.

With the stone, what decides is the combination of cut, colour, clarity and weight, the four Cs. Half a carat more can double the price, a barely visible clarity grade can lower it noticeably. This is the biggest lever for your budget, and it's where the industry plays the most tricks.

Lab-grown diamonds change this calculation noticeably. For the same budget you get a larger or cleaner stone. Whether that suits you is a question of your story, not of status. We walk through that calmly in a separate post.

The metal matters less than most people think. There are barely worlds between white, yellow and rose gold; platinum is more expensive, but holds its shape for a lifetime. The work on an individual setting is honest craftsmanship and worth its price, but it isn't the item that blows a budget.
