Push present Zurich: a piece for the first day as a family

A push present is a piece of jewellery that marks the day two became three. At émin in Zurich District 4 we design it to measure: with the child's birthstone, their initials, even a tiny fingerprint as an engraving.

We explain plainly what a push present actually is, which ideas work well in practice, and what they cost, with no pressure and no jargon. Whether at the atelier or by video, you get an honest conversation and a piece that fits your story.

Four ideas for your push present

It doesn't have to be a big ring. What matters is the meaning behind it.

Birthstone

A pendant or ring with the child's birthstone, a quiet, personal nod to the month it all began.

Initials pendant

A simple pendant with the child's initials, small enough for everyday wear, meaningful enough for a lifetime.

Child's fingerprint as engraving

Your child's fingerprint, finely engraved inside a ring or on the back of a pendant. A detail that never happens twice.

Ring with a small diamond

A quiet ring with a single, cleanly set diamond, worn every day without being loud.

What a push present actually is

The term describes a gift given by a partner after the birth of a child, a thank-you for nine months of pregnancy and the birth itself. There's no fixed rule and no price to hit, what matters is the gesture, not the size of the stone.

Many people deliberately choose a piece that can be worn every day, not one that stays in a safe. A pendant on a fine chain or a small ring can easily be worn with a baby in your arms, without getting in the way.

A custom pendant: the most popular choice

Most parents choose a pendant, because it combines easily with an existing chain and stays practical in daily life with a child. We set the birthstone, initials or a small engraving so the piece still looks good in ten years, not just on the day it's handed over.

You decide whether it stays understated or gets a small diamond added. We show you samples and renderings before any work starts, so you know exactly how your push present will turn out.

If it should be a ring instead

Some parents prefer an extra ring instead of a pendant, often understated with a single small diamond. To make sure it fits, we need the ring size, either measured at the atelier or based on an existing ring for comparison.

Frequently asked questions

A push present is a gift given after the birth of a child, as a thank-you for pregnancy and birth. There's no fixed rule, neither for the price nor the type of jewellery, what matters is the meaning, not the size.

The most common are pendants with a birthstone or initials, because they fit easily into everyday life with a child. A small fingerprint engraving or a quiet ring with a single diamond are also popular. We advise you on what fits your style and daily routine.

Yes, that's possible. We need a clean print, either as an ink print on paper or a sharp photo, then we transfer it as a fine engraving to the inside of a ring or the back of a pendant. We show you what the result will look like beforehand.

The classic birthstone follows the birth month, from garnet in January to tanzanite or turquoise in December. Some months carry more than one tradition, we show you the options and advise on which stone holds up best in daily wear.

Ideally yes, otherwise the ring might not fit later. You can have the size measured at the atelier or bring an existing ring for comparison. If you want to keep it a surprise, a secretly borrowed ring we can measure and return often does the trick.

For a pendant made to measure we usually plan one to three weeks, for a ring with a small diamond two to four weeks, depending on setting and stone availability. If a specific date matters, such as the child's birthday, let us know right at the start.

A pendant made to measure starts at CHF 950, the exact price depends on metal, stone and setting. We calculate every item openly before you decide, with no hidden costs or surprise add-ons later.
